Natureworks' polylactic acid under the Ingeo 3D870 brand name is a biopolymer that has environmental benefits as it is made from renewable resources. It is produced by polymerization of lactic acid from corn starch. SAKATA 3D manufactures excellent filaments for 3D printing from this raw material, where it is evident that the rate of fluidity in hot water is higher than that of standard PLA or ABS plastic.
The filaments created with the 3D870 resin have other enhancements such as excellent adhesion to printing surfaces, a feature that optimizes the quality of the first layer and minimizes the risk of deformation.
